One kid way easier than two (although we wouldn't change a thing)

After waiting over 11 months, I FINALLY pulled Harper's hair into her first pony tail!!! She kept looking at me like what the heck are you doing?!
After waiting again, Harper started army crawling over the weekend! Watch out world!

I'm going to get you!!!! Time to put the gates up!

Emma was away at Bible camp from last Sunday thru Friday night! I missed her like crazy, but boy, was it a lot less running for me!  Emma starts school in 3 short weeks and our commutes will become back to "normal"

This week was a nice time for the three of us to hang and Emma had a great time in Iowa, but came back full of bug bites. I hope she learned a lot & treasures the memories.

Got to keep this one short! Didn't have a whole lot this week, other than the norm.

Have a good week!

Family Vacation

Greetings from the Johnson/Salzwedel's! We just got back from a great get-a-way from the land of Lake Shetek, MN!  I took the whole week off and Monday/Tuesday I stained the decks. I got the front deck done and I will need another day on the back deck as it's a two coat job and it's quite large!

Wednesday, we took off for MN and spent about an hour trying to get the awning of my parents camper up. After MANY swear words, we got it up and broke it in the process! UGH!!

So the above picture is from Friday (Wed & Thurs were too windy to get in the lake for Harper!).  Harper was terrified of the lake at first, but adjusted quite nicely later. Her & I enjoyed the slow lane, while Eric & Emma went to the raft and sunned & played.

This is Harper's newest sleeping position?! She cries and then when you go check on her, she's sitting with her legs out and is touching her nose to the bed?! It looks awfully uncomfortable!! No wonder she's only napping for about 1 1/2 hours/day!

We're a little out of order here, but my folks came up on Saturday for the weekend (when we left). We spent some time on their boat. Harper LOVED it. As a matter of fact, she was lounging to the point of napping while out on the water!! It's a good thing we went out, because a few hours later, (after we left) a storm came up and dumped the boat..lost the seats/windshield etc. I think it's a total loss, from what I hear! The winds blew the waves 5-6 feet up in the air! I just thank God everyone was ok!

Earlier in the week, the girls enjoyed popscicles together! Harper loved to suck the juice out of the ice and Emma likes to just drink the watery stuff! What a pair!!

We took the girls to one of the parks at the campground & Harper loved the swing!! Thanks, folks, for letting us use the camper for a few days! SO sad to have to go back to work tomorrow!!

We also dropped Emma off at church to go to Bible camp this afternoon! She will be there until Friday afternoon and next week is her 10th birthay! God, where did the time go???

We are off now to a work function - semi pro baseball game!

Have a great week! Pray for Emma being safe at camp this week!

11 months old

Ok, ok, I know I haven't done so well in the past two weeks to update the blog! I'm Sorry! We have been SO busy and life isn't slowing down any time soon!  Last weekend we had the wonderful experience of celebrating my grandma's 90th birthday with ALL of our family (except for one cousin in CA).
Here's grandma with 9 of her 10 grandchildren..notice that until Bethany came along, I was the lone girl!

Here was grandma with so many of her great grandchildren, I can't count! I think there's 21 or 22!
Our happy little girl! But I better back up & tell you what's been going on! Last Friday night, we made our way over to Edgerton to start the celebrations. Harper had quite a fever. I'd taken her back to the surgeon's office on Thursday, but she looked and said everything was good with her ears, nose & throat, so it may be viral! Well, Friday night, Harper just looked very sullen. We took her dress off & let her just sit in her diaper. It was great to see some of my cousins who made it from NY, TX & GA. We weren't there long and decided to come home. We took her temp & it was 104.7!!!  Emma had stayed with my mom so we were almost ER bound. The on-call nurse told us to give her Tylenol, wait 1/2 hour & if the temp didn't budge, to head in. In 1/2 hour, it was down to 103.8, so we were in the right direction. Saturday morning, she was back to "normal" temp wise. Her fever stayed away until later in the day on Sat, and didn't get nearly so warm. She just wasn't herself. Meanwhile, we had an open house birthday for grandma's birthday party. She had so many people come thru to see her! It was great! We then had dinner as a big group & we again headed back to Sioux Falls.

Sunday we headed back for a mini family reunion at the park with some of my mom's cousins etc. We had an amazing baseball game that involved all of us too! I think we all had so much fun & it was great to see all of my cousins again! Hadn't seen some of them for 8 or so years!  Tho, some of my cousins kids weren't feeling well either & I think we had 2 definate ER visits!  Quite a weekend!

We packed in the car again and made it home. Harper was feeling much better by this time! We were all so pooped, we forgot about the 4th of July fireworks! Oops

This past week, we're trying a fan in Harper's room so she'll sleep thru the night. Not working so far, but we are now only going in one time and giving her a bottle of water. We'll see how that works!

Our little missy is 11 months old all ready!! She is now wiggling around..not crawling, but wiggling. Very curious as to what everyone else is doing. Wants to touch the puppy, but doens't want him to lick her! She LOVES watermelon, yogurt etc. She's our happy little girl!

I think Harper had the flu, because I got it on Wednesday! High fever..just wanted to die!

This week, I'm off the whole week! Doing jobs around the house & on Wednesday, we head to the lake!! Vaca here we come!! then Emma goes to camp..where is the summer going???
