To go or not to go

Today has been a lot of do I take Harper or do I not take Harper into the doctor. She's had a cold for a couple of days, but her cough is getting kind of concerning. It has settled into her lungs & she wakes herself up coughing at night. She doesn't have a fever & is generally still her smiley self, but I just worry about things a simple cold can turn into!
I also have been wondering about going into the doctor for myself. My right shoulder has really been bugging me this week. It's on the front edge of my right shoulder. I can do some things, but as I stretch out to reach for something, it really strains. I has shoulder surgery on my left shoulder in high school, but can't remember if this is how it felt. I'll probably put it off as long as I can!

Emma is busy at school. Still doing ok in school, and selling Girl Scout cookies now. LOVE this time of year=( Not really. Mom & dad sell the cookies and Emma just collects the prizes:)

Eric leaves for Portland on Thursday afternoon to go visit Steve & go to a Lakers game. I know he's been looking forward to it for quite a while! The girls & I will go to mom's on Friday night & head up to the Cities for my niece, Evelina's, first birthday party. It should be a good time! I'm glad we got something to do over the weekend while he's gone. It'd be a long weekend alone.

Have a good week!

Where does the time go?

Wow, it's been a LONG time! So sorry about that for those of you who read our blog! Last Sunday/Monday our computer downloaded a virus! It was quite a virus as it took about a week for the computer place to get rid of it! We also got a new anti virus software installed, just to prevent this from happening again!

It's been a busy two weeks! Harper's up to 4 types of food already! She LOVES sweet potatoes and squash (those are her favorites!) and also eats green beans. She does not love them. In addition, this week, we added peaches as a dessert type food! She's eating a whole jar of food, plus some of the fruit, so I'm anxious to see what she weighs in about a week and a half when we go in for her 6 month check up!!

With her eating so well, I've done a bunch of reading that says at this age, babies don't NEED to eat at night anymore! So, we spent one night of screaming for 54 very long minutes last Wednesday night! She did go back to sleep and has slept thru the night ever since! We are giving her a nap after work, tho, or she can't make it past 7:00 at night. We're trying to stretch her to stay up until 8 at night, and then she sleeps until 6:30-7 a.m! We're so lucky for such a beautiful, healthy girl!

Another first, was the transfer into the big girl tub! She kept wanting to sit up in the baby tub in the sink, so we transferred her into the big tub with a toy to hold her up, since she's not quite ready to sit up by herself, but it won't be too long!
Eric & I tried to make homemade baby food for her this weekend, but it was too thick and chunky. She gagged on the squash! Now what do I do with this remaining squash!? Oh well!

Emma is still liking school and is reading a lot!! We're reading a book together this week on Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller. We each read a chapter & I quiz her. She's beginning to read too fast and isn't getting the details, so I'm hoping this will help pay attention to details! She's still playing the celo, but is counting the days until she's done with it! She wonders why she didn't chose the violin! UGH that's what we wanted her to play!! KIDS!! She's thinking about doing the science fair with a friend. Still trying to figure out what to do!

Eric's been real busy at work, taking another big trial on this week. He's on two high profile trials that he's co-chair in. I plan on him bringing MORE work home nightly=(

We're all counting the day till spring comes! It's been a long, cold, snowy winter! We have a huge frozen lake at the end of our driveway since the drains were covered up! It's going to be an awful thaw, but I can't wait to not freeze every day!

Hope this finds you all well..

brrrrrr

We've had some seriously cold weather over the past week! Emma has been going to Anne Sullivan Elementary for 5 years now, and she had her 2nd and 3rd snow day last week, due to negative 30 degree wind chills! Eric stayed home with her on Thursday as he wasn't feeling well, and I got to stay home on Friday! It was great! I got all the Christmas stuff put away, we met a friend for lunch and just hung out!

Harper turned 5 months old over the weekend. I can't believe the time is flying by so fast!! Her latest & greatest developments are that she can grab the string from your sweatshirt & just look at it, or put it in her mouth!:) She's very curious as to what is going on around her and she's always looking and smiling!

We'd started weening her from her Prevacid again this week, and she's seemed to been ok, but we've noticed, at night, that after dinner, she'll throw up all over the place! She's done it 3 times now. Of course, 2 of the times, I've been in the shower & she does it all over dad! He says I'm not allowed to shower while she's still awake:) Most reflux babies do throw up, so I'm wondering if that's what's going on. She did have a spell yesterday where she just cried for no reason, which could be her tummy?! I don't know. We've also stopped with the vegetables as that could be it too. She's now strictly on the Target formula and appears ok with that, but it's a guessing game! The minute she's done puking, she's happy as a lark & wants a bottle, so she's still hungry! As a matter of fact, last night she went to bed at 8, woke up at 11 for 5 oz and again at 5:00 for another 5 oz. Mom's not getting a lot of sleep lately and it's making me quite crabby:(

Tonight, Emma and I have Girl Scouts, tomorrow I have a meeting for Girl Scouts on cookie sales (and no, I'm not even the troop leader this year!) and I'm meeting a friend on Sat for lunch and pedicures!! I'm needing some time for myself, I think! Eric's getting ready to go to Portland in about 3 weeks to visit Steve and go to the Lakers/Trailblazers game, I think I'm due too!

Today, we're losing daycare lady #2. Ggma is going to Arizona for the remainder of the winter. Harper & her cuddle up most days. I can tell, as Harper smells like her every day:) I bet she'll be looking around for her a lot today! Nana's shoulder is good enough after surgery, that she can hold Harper now, thank God!
Time to go wake up the baby! Get her ready for the day! Have a great week!

Christmas 2009

Em opening presents

Wow! Where did the past week go?? UGH it's been a whirlwind!

Last week Monday, on the way home from work, I started feeling ill. It literally hit me..BAM. I went to bed early & couldn't get warm. I ended up staying home from work on Tuesday. You know I was sick to stay home with no sick time! Emma stayed home too. She wasn't feeling 100%, plus I wasn't up to driving her to the daycare across town! Our stomach's ached on Tuesday, but it slowly got better. Made it back to work/daycare on Wed/Thursday to plan for the exciting NY Eve!!

Finally, Thursday night approached and our plans (of which we had none!) were postponed as Eric caught the bug! We were both sleeping by 9:30! We rang in the new year asleep! Harper came home with a real cold on Thursday night, so she woke up at 1:00 and again a 5:30 a.m. So I kind of rang in the New Year with her.

Our most exciting part of the weekend was that Paul & Jen made it on Friday! Sadly, they didn't get here until around 4:30 that afternoon. We are selfish and want them all to ourselves, but they got to see three different friends that were around while they were here! Jim & Carolyn came Sat afternoon & we had a nice visit until Sunday afternoon. Emma did go to her dad's Fri/Sat, but we got her back Sat. That way, she got to do all of her Christmases!

The most exciting Harper news is that on Saturday, she experienced her first vegetables!! Green beans. She didn't even notice when I switched from the cereal to the beans. She opened her mouth up like, "more." Our baby is getting SO big SO fast!! We'll do only beans for another month and then add in some other green veggies. The research I did, shows from 4-6 mo, they should only get beans, then peas. So far, I don't think she'll mind! I think Eric's going to try & make some homeade! He's so excited to use the new grinder! I hope she likes it!

Eric did win his trial last week. He convicted a trucker of drinking & driving..while having a full load! Jeesh! Be careful out there!

Emma made it back to school this week. We should get her report card soon!! There better be no B- this time! Have a great New Year! Eric, Nicole, Emma & Harper
