Life..

We've had another busy week here at the Salzwedel/Johnson household! Eric took Harper in on Wednesday for her 2 week checkup after her 2nd ear infection to find out....no new infection! YA. This was the first time in 3 visits to hear she is in the clear! I will be continuing to put garlic drops in her ears as a prevention (a tip I picked up from some gals at work).

As you can see from the above picture, our little gal is still loving new "big kid" food. Here's her eating a graham cracker. She is also onto eating #3 foods which have much more consistency. She's into eating the kid "puffs" which basically dissolve in her mouth. She likes to grab them & once in awhile will stick them in her mouth, but usually just whines until you put them in her mouth. She's very lazy! Still no holding her own bottle, rolling over or crawling.

The other night, she was really rocking out in her highchair, I got a glimpse of her and daddy acting all crazy!

We went back home to Jackson yesterday for Bethany's Junior prom! I can NOT believe she's old enough to go to prom, let alone go on the college visits she's been going on lately! I'm still hoping for Augustana so she can be close to us, but mom tends to look at the dollar signs:(
Whatever she choses, I will be happy for her, of course.

Back to prom, my job was to do her makeup! She doesn't need any, due to her natural beauty (and fake tan didn't hurt!), but it was an honor. I must admit that I cried when she came downstairs. No one else did, and they suck, because she was stunning!!!!! Below is a picture of her & her boyfriend, Josh....

I got a text from her today that the meal was great, as was the hypmotist, but the rest was kind of dumb. That's too bad, but now she's experienced her first prom.

Miss Harper is certainly more interactive as of this week. Lots of "talking." She also loves to read books and turn the page! She has also mastered the "hi" and "bye" wave. I have heard her say hi and Suzanne heard her say bye, so I think she's advanced=)

Emma is on the downward slide of 4th grade! We had 2 snowdays this year, so her last day is May 20th. Can't believe the year is almost over! She will go to summer camp for a full week this year. She does not want to do tennis lessons again, so we'll find another activity for her to try. She's mentioned a track Mini-camp, so we'll see!
Eric's and my big news of the week is that tomorrow is our 2 year wedding anniversary already! I can't believe it's been 2 years. We've gotten so much accomplished...major trip, new house and new baby in that 2 year time span. Where does the time go?! Babe - here's to 50 more years of wedded bliss!!! love you!!
Have a good week!

So big!!

Our little gal has had no interest in table food..until this week!! Suzanne said she LOVED scrambled eggs & toast, so I tried making it for her Saturday. Well, I guess she doesn't love MY scrambled eggs?! But, she has eaten a whole piece of toast, some pretzels and some other miscellaneous grown up foods.

Our little girls spent some time of the respective lap tops this weekend, which was adorable! She still shows no interest in rolling over and can't get up from a lying position. I am also concerned that her ear infection hasn't gone away. I hope that is not the case! We take her back on Wed for a check up and I sure hope it's gone!

Daddy gave Harper a bath the other day and he thought the mohawk would be adorable. It is kind of cute.

We all had a bout of some sort of flu this week. Emma threw up quite a bit Monday night/Tuesday morning, so Eric & I tag teamed staying home for the day since I had a seminar in the afternoon. I started feeling sick Wed night and came home from work a little early and it finally hit Eric Sat morning. Eric & I never got actually sick, we just had sore stomachs.

This is another busy week, as we are going home again Saturday for my baby sister's Junior prom! Can anyone believe she's old enough to go to prom?!! I'm on makeup duty! It should be quite fun!
We've been having some behavioral problems with Emma and have about come to our whitts end with her and her irresponsibility! Then, a girl friend of mine called last night & said Emma was on her bike & darted in front of them in their car without even looking before she crossed the street!!! I just don't know what to do with her. She was with her friends and they were told they could play in our cul de sac. I found her at the school play ground and went off, in front of her friends as they were the ones who told me they would stay in our street! I immediately got in my car and drove to the school where I told the girls I was calling their monther's too! So far, her birthday party, camp & next summer's after school program are on potential hold. We had this stage with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please pray we do not lock her in the basement!
Have a good week

8 months old!!

Where in the world has the time gone?? I can't believe Harper is actually closer to a year than a newborn. I know it's been that way for a few months now, but I don't like it either way! She is getting so much fun! Tho, she's not interested in crawling, or rolling over. She's perfectly happy sitting on your lap or sitting in her bouncer. She'll probably be a walker, but not a crawler. We've had a busy couple of weeks, and that's why I didn't get the blog done last week. For Easter, we were lucky enough to have Paul visit for a few days. We made plans while he was here to go visit them in Milwaukee over Memorial Day weekend. We're very excited!! We had a small celebration for Easter. Eric's parents came as well as Paul. I'd invited my grandma Hendricks, since it was her 90th birthday, but my Aunt & Uncle came to visit her so she didn't make it. I just didn't want her to be alone on her birthday. We will be having a huge celebration over the 4th of July! I will get to see some family I havne't seen in a long time.

Harper's bottom two teeth are coming in, so she's happy to put anything in her mouth to help with some pain..even sucking on my diet coke can!! She has also had an ear infection twice in the past month. When I took her in for her checkup to make sure the ear had healed, they discovered yet another infection. I, of course, had an idea of this since we'd been up the entire night before! I'm hoping this bout of medicine will kick it!

We got some sad news last week that my great grandma Sankey had passed away. She made it to 105 years, 5 months and 5 days old!! She played cards on Thursday, quilted on Friday & went into the hospital Sat and passed on Sunday. She lived an amazing life and had been alone for 27 years! It was a very full funeral for as many kids/grandkids/great grandkids and great-great grandkids!! I got to see some relatives I hadn't seen in a long time! Eric & I stopped to see grandma Hendricks on the way back to Sioux Falls. Matt, Kristina and the girls came that night to stay with us for a night! It was great for Emma & Annika to play and now Evi has Harper to get after! Evi got one good kiss in before she started crawling all over again! Harper just looked at her like "what are you doing?"
Harper has started eating some table food this week. She really liked a cake that I made for Easter and she had noodles in the following picture! Our big girl will be off baby food before we know it!

Yesterday, we ran to Lakefield to celebrate my godchild's first communion. It was a nice celebration and an awesome meal after words at the golf course. It was very hard to limit myself on the food, but I did good. Fifteen pounds down so far! Lots to go, but I'm on my way!
Have a great week!
