Sleep?? What's that?

Things have been super crazy here at the Johnson/Salzwedel household! Last Monday, Harper woke up with another 103 degree temp! The doctor squeezed us in only to find out, the ear infection was not gone. So, we went to shots of antibiotics! One in each leg, for 3 straight days! She screamed for about 20 minutes afterwards..the whole time we waited each time to make sur she didn't have an allergic reaction to it! Eric took her on Wednesday to see Dr VanBeek. She said it still wasn't gone! I couldn't believe it! So on top of the shots, we went onto another medicine & drops:( My poor baby has an appointment on Tuesday to see a specialist about potentially getting tubes. I did take her to the chiropractor also, to get an adjustment. I just hope something helps!

Harper loves to eat whatever you are! She also LOVES to have her hands in whatever she's eating! The books say to let them try & feed themselves, but jeesh, what a mess! I did it with mashed potatoes last night, and she went straight to the tub! The jello was easier to clean up!

Our girls make each other smile every time they see each other! We're so happy to have smiley girls!

This was a picture of Emma on Thursday for her last day of 4th grade! I can't believe the school year is over already! Today, she starts out at summer daycare already! Mom's not looking forward to making lunches daily, but we hit Sam's on Saturday to get all of the supplies! They will do plenty of fun activies to keep her occupied and starting in June, they will go across the street to the pool bi-weekly, so she will get quite the tan again this summer!

Yesterday, Emma went to her dad's for the day and I planted plants in the front of the house:(
Yuck! I hate gardening. I planted 5 perennials so I don't have to do that every year! My back is quite sore today!

We also had our daycare lady's son come over to see if he wants to power wash and stain the fence! It's quite a job & would take us 2 full weeks, I'm sure, to do it ourselves! Sounds like a good job for a freshman to earn some money!
This week will be a busy one! Dr appointment tomorrow for Harper's ears and on Thursday, my girlfriend & I head to Fargo for the Nickelback concert! I'm SOOO excited to sleep a WHOLE night thru!! It's been a LONG time! (Harper still wakes up..we let her cry for an hour the other night and she just kept crying..won't go back to sleep!) Then, we drive back home, only to get back in the car to drive to Milwaukee!!! Paul & Jen..here we come!! So excited! (Tho I'm not looking forward to the 11 hours in the car that day:(
Have a safe Memorial Day

Minneapolis bound

Greetings all! Whew, what a busy week! We started out last Monday by heading to see Dr Van Beek for Harper's 9 month check up. Turns out all was great & she is in the 97% for height, 75% for weight and 50% for head size! The only shots she got were the second part of both flu shots. That's just so next year, she will only have to get the one, instead of the two shots. She did really well and studied the doctor pretty hard! She clapped for her and it was a highlight of the doctor's day, I'm sure!

As you can see from above, the girls were helping me with laundry this week! Emma put Harper's clothes on the couch and the baby in the basket, instead of the other way around:)

Friday night, Eric took Emma out to a movie as they hadn't done a "daddy and me" night in awhile. Harper & I just hung out at the doctor's office:( Dr Van Beek noticed Harper's cold last Monday and figured it may turn into an ear infection. Why didn't she just give me the drugs then?! So, we have another double ear infection! Very crabby baby!

We were all supposed to go to Minneapolis this weekend for my brother's oldest (Annika's) 7th birthday and my God daughter (Maddy's) baptism! Unfortunately, Eric caught a really nasty cold and ended up staying home. So, the girls packed up with the new GPS and headed to the Cities! Harper wasn't herself on Saturday at all and ended up in bed for the night at 6:30. She ended up waking several times in the night, and was burning up. I almost considered finding a hospital to take her to, but she did cool down with ibuprofen. We ended up sleeping in the wing back chair in the hotel room! Meanwhile, Emma and the rest of my family went to the pool and waterslide. Since I stayed with the baby, I have no pictures, but I think my sister in law and mom will need to forward me some pictures!

Sunday was Annika's actual birthday, and Maddy's baptism! I was honored to be named her Godmother! She's my first actual Godchild, so I am very honored.

She's the cutest darn thing! She looked like she was getting married! Maddy is so petite, I'd say it's only a matter of a pound or two between her & my chunky monkey! She is exactly 1 year (minus a day) older than Harper. Boy, did she give the pastor a look when he put the water on her head!

Annika & Emma at the baptism.
We headed out right after the baptism (missed the temptation of cake!) and headed for home. What a LONGGGG drive home..ugh.
Got home to my wonderful husband, who had the house picked up and dinner ready:) Boy, am I a lucky gal! He is feeling much better. I hope Harper is..she was up several times again last night:( One time, she just screamed like she did when she was a newborn. She's been off the Prevacid for 2 1/2 weeks. I am hoping it's just the medicine for her ears and not a permanent thing where we'd have to ut her back on it. Time will tell!
Last week of school for Emma~ WOW. Hope she passes fourth grade:)

Time to go wake up our princesses! Have a good week!

Ooops

I feel bad! I forgot to tell you all in my last update about my wonderful husband! Due to Harper not feeling well, he did not go out to Rapid for work. He didn't want to leave me in case she didn't sleep at night! Well, thank God he did not go as he did stay home with Emma on Friday.

He also brought me breakfast in bed on Mother's day! A scrumptious meal of Egg Beaters and a glass of Crystal Light brought to me on the bed tray!

How lucky am I?!?!!! He took me to my favorite place for lunch (Qdoba) and was going to let me get my favorite meal for hitting 20 lbs lost, but I didn't feel right about it since we had a coupon and we had to order something else, but nonetheless.. I love you dear! Father's Day is just around the corner..

9 Months!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there! Our week at the Johnson/Salzwedel home was filled with sickness:( As you can see from above, our little peanut was out like a light due to not sleeping at all Monday night. We got into the doctor on Tuesday morning (I would've bet the farm it was her ears again) only to find out she had Hand, Mouth & Foot, which is a viral infection that causes blisters to form in your throat & is spread with saliva (since babies put their hands & feet in their mouth, that is how it spreads to their feet & hands). She was drooling like crazy in the doctor's office and she said that is because it's so painful to swallow, they do anything possible not to! Our poor baby! And of course, it's viral, so nothing they can do. She also couldn't go to daycare for 2 days, so we spent Tuesday and Wednesday home. Tues was a long day as she wouldn't nap, nor eat! It got a little better on Wednesday tho.

If you look closely, you can see her upper lip has a piece of loose skin, which was a blister that had popped. Poor baby!
Yesterday, we had Harper's 9 month pictures taken!!! Where does the time go? She is trying to eat everything we do and she is still not sleeping thru the night!!! UGH. And with her being sick, I can't let her cry herself back to sleep! On top of that, she caught a cold, so she's miserable.
Emma is counting down the last 2 weeks of school. She missed school on Friday as she was sick! Eric & I missed some work this week. I didn't mind:)

This week I have to go to Brookings for work one day and then we take off Saturday morning for my godchild Maddy's bapitsm in the Cities!!

Hope you enjoyed some of Harper's great new pics! Have a great week!

Getting so big

Hello! Our little girl has had quite a few accomplishments this week! She has finally started holding her own bottle! As a matter of fact, a few minutes ago, she held it straight up in the air. She even fell asleep holding it like this. Too bad it's only 7:30 at night:( Going to wake up early, I just know it

As you can see, Harper has decided to put everything possible in her mouth. This weekend, it was everything from daddy's cap, to the bottom of the Pledge can.

The two bottom teeth have definately made their appearance. She's starting to eat more table food. Today, Grandma Johnson was here & we went out for breakfast. Harper at some toast, eggs and pancakes. Dinner tonight, she got some mashed potatoes. We're going to try & get through the fruit baby food that we have 'cuz I think baby food may be on it's way out.

Harper is also starting to put all of her weight on her legs. She held herself up for about 4 minutes yesterday, holding onto the chair. I knew she would skip crawling & go straight for the walking. I hope she waits for a little bit yet! It's nice putting her in one spot & having her stay there:)

She's also starting to be much more vocal and she learned to clap her hands this week. I'm very proud of our advanced baby:)
Eric & I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary this week. We can't believe it's gone so fast and that we created such an amazing baby. We're very blessed! We spent last night with some friends' down in Vermillion to celebrate his birthday. We had a grill out, and played some Rock Band. It was a fun night, but we didn't get home until 1:30! I thought I was going to die! Of course, Harper woke up at 3:30 and 5:45! She hates us:) Then she woke up for the day at 7. I needed a nap today.
Emma's on the final countdown for school. She's officially got less than 3 weeks left and the summer, here we come!

We're trying no Prevacid with Harper again. We're on day 5, so the next few days will decide. Of course, dad is headed to Deadwood for a few days for work. Hopefully it won't be a painful couple of days for her while I'm single parenting!

Time to get a few things done. Have a good week!
